Bionic Commando Demo - Xbox 360 (First Impressions)

Well, first of all, whoever GRIN is, their company logo is very scary with the horrible, manky teeth thing going on. Got to the main screen. It’s quite basic! I was expecting something dramatic, and now I find it’s Xbox Live only so they’re putting me in a Deathmatch as I type this! I’ve had no say in the specific settings of it or anything, so it’s not very helpful. I know demo's are just meant to be a taster but gosh! The list of players is ready. (God help me cuz I’m crap at these games.)

Well.. I left after 5 minutes. As I expected, I was shot dead within two and the graphics weren't good! It was so dark I could hardly see!. The screenshots before I downloaded looked great! Comic book style superhero jumping around lush green environments but this demo, I think, just sucks!! I’m sure some people out there will love it. Not for me, thank you!

Is anybody out there??

This post is to see if anybody is reading my blogs! I've just made this account, but I can't see a way to socialise, and I was was just wondering if anyone is actually reading this?! LOL. If you have read this, leave me a comment. Introduce yourself :D. Or comment on my other blogs please! Especially the discontinued products one as there must be something you can share there! =P

Discontinued Products! Which Do You Miss?

I bought a pack of Starburst the other day. The fruit chew kind. They’re currently £1.00 for a big bag in Tesco! So, if you like them, I suggest you get down there! But anyway, this got me thinking about products that I’ve enjoyed that we no longer see on the shelves. The one I miss the most….Starburst Joosters! They were the tastiest sweets ever!! There are numerous Facebook groups to bring them back, but so far nothing has surfaced. Apparently, you can get them from Disney Land in Florida and they are now called Starburst Original Jellybeans. Release them in the UK, please!Another of my faves was the Peanut Lion Bar. It was great! If you love peanuts, which I do, (Reece’s Cups, Reece’s Pieces, Reece’s Nutrageous Bar) then the Peanut Lion Bar was great. It was so smooth tasting! The Nutrageous Bar is a worthy alternative but it shall never beat the Peanut Lion Bar!! It seems it may be available in Eastern Europe somewhere, but that’s no good! On Tesco Longton’s shelves ASAP please!

What products do you guys miss?

There must be something.

Let me know via comment! :D

My Linux Ubuntu Experience

A couple of weeks ago, I installed the free, open-source operating system known as Linux Ubuntu. It was recommended to me by a friend. Installation wasn't as simple as I'd hoped, regarding hard drive partitions. When I first installed it, I just had to hope that it didn't overwrite my main partition. (I had backed up anyway) but it didn't appear to be very clear about where it was going to install etc. One thing I DID like was the fact you can run it from the CD to try it out before you install it. Later on, I found out that you can install it just like a normal program on your computer, and that it still lets you use it in dual-boot mode automatically.

I installed it to my laptop. (Intel Core 2 duo 1.6Ghz, 2GB RAM, 160gb hard disk) My first impressions were that it wasn't the prettiest of the pack. I couldn't stand the default desktop background and I changed it ASAP. I decided to try and find a way to make it look a lot better by transforming it completely. I did this buy installing a Mac transformation pack, as I personally love the way the Mac OS looks. It's so elegant and clean. This was much better and I was trying out other features of Ubuntu, like the wobbly windows. (They look better in real life than they do on YouTube.) I did notice, though, that even with not many programs open, the fancy CoverFlow style transitions (that substitute the Task Switcher on Windows Vista) started to run very sluggishly! It was a big disappointment. I presume that this is because I am using onboard graphics, however, I have Windows Vista Home Premium on the same machine and the Task Switcher works beautifully, even with lots going on.

Along with Windows was telling me I had 40GB less than I did, this was the final nail in the coffin really, and I decided to restore my laptop back to factory defaults!

Overall, it is an interesting concept and web browsing is nice. The Pidgin Instant Messenger is quite clean and pretty, despite its lack of function. aMSN is an alternative but it's less than attractive. Overall, I think Linux Ubuntu is a good free OS if you want to run your system with no bells and whistles, but otherwise you should just stick to Windows, in my opinion! =)

I give my experience of using Linux Ubuntu 5/10 * * * * *
